2460 problems with SATA drives

I have a 2460 with dual 1.2's. I wanted to upgrade the hard drives to SATA. I purchased the Silicom Image 3114 raid 5 capable and installed two WD SATA 1.5 drive into it. The system recognizes the drives at boot and when I have another drive loaded with XP SP2. I cannot get the XP CD to recognize drives either directly connected to the SI3114 or in an Antec external SATA case. I have used the WD Lifeguard software and prepared the drives making them bootable but still no luck, need some help and thanks in advance.
