I'm looking for a notebook that won't put me over the edge. I don't need
all the fancy bells, and whistles.
I plan on using it on a lengthy trip to load map data, store photos, and
do the email net thing.
I took a look at the 305X at a local Gateway store, and it seemed to
meet my needs.
Of course I don't know how effective, and reliable it is.

On another note, I will also need an ISP. I currently have a DSL with my
local ( SBC-SNET) which will be out of the question on the road.
I will need a dial-up provider that has a lot of access points form
around the country without paying a bunch of long distance bills.
I will appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks,

Frank

SBC Yahoo provides dialup service for DSL subscribers all over the country.
I think you have to "upgrade" to Yahoo to have access to all of them,
however. If you just want a cheap dialup with lots of numbers you could try
NetZero, you can get 10 hours a month free, unlimited for $9.95. No news
servers but you can access your SBC news server through the NetZero
connection.

SBC DSL includes Yahoo dialup nationwide. Just check for the local POP
(access number) before you travel.
