848P-A version 1.00 - slow boot up

Have an ECS 848P-A with P4 1.6Ghz CPU and a GB of RAM. The unit seems to
work OK except very slow boot up time. It takes 1 minute 10 sec to go
from power up to "detecting IDE drive". The time between drive detection
and starting WinXP is reasonable (maybe 1~3 secs). However, WinXP took
another 3~4 minutes before the PC is ready to be used. What does the
BIOS do during the 1 min 10 sec?
