Yeah, a few days is fine, but you were probably running that psu at full
belt and so if it turned into a few weeks it would more than likely blow up.

Which is a far cry from a generic 300w or a 250w like the OP was asking
about, but even 350w is running pretty close to the metal.........I doubt if
you add up all your parts that you are under what the 12v rail pumps out,
you really should upgrade that psu..

OK, for those of us who are stupid, could you go through your
calculation? I'm not at all clear on where one gets the numbers for
those components.

i forgot to include all the crap i have in computer its realy pushing the
smart power 350 wat.

barton 2500+ @ 3200+ (200 fsb)
1 gig ddr 3200 ram (2x512meg OC sys ram)
boistar M7ncd pro
useing built in network card.
ati 9700 pro
2, 88mm case fan's
1, 80 gig wd drive
2, 40 gig wd drives raid 0
promis fast trax 100 (not conected right now swaping to back up sys but it
was working fine also moveing the 2 40 gig drives)
16x lite-on dvd
40x12x48 sony cdrw
Gamesurround Muse 5:1 DVD sound card
creative labs 5300 speakers 5:1
10 inch purple neon light 12 volt
EL case badge 5 volt
sony floppy drive
microsoft game voice (power from usb)
brother MFC 5100c (also useing usb)
pen cam trio (also useing usb)
ati tv wonder ve

now tell me i was not pushing that powersuply lol. i know it was damn close
to the max thats why im pulling the raid setup.
one thing i did was take the 2nd fan on the powersuply and conected it to
run full time not just when it gets hot. keeping the powersuply cool help.
