Think I've come to the end of this - tried different PSUs, removed hard
drive and CD and graphics card, removed memory. The computer starts for
about 3 seconds, fan spins, then shuts down straight away - same symptom
whatever the configuration. The only constant is the AMD 2500 processor.
The PSU needs to be switched off or unplugged before the front panel
switch works again.

Any ideas?!

TIA

Rob

I am pretty sure the PSU is unservicable so I would replace it with a new
one and redo your troubleshooting tests and I wouldn`t be surprised if you
have success getting it up and running this time.

That's what I was thinking - seemed like the PSU gave out a burst, then
gave up. But I tried two diiffferent PSUs.

However - just removed the processor, bare board, and it started. Put
the processor back, added all the bits, and it starts. I just don't know
any more, but at least it works!

Thanks for the advice anyway.

Rob
