Hi,

I recently installed Win 2003 Server R2 on a machine with a Asus A7V8X
mainboard. Unfortunately, I was not able to find drivers for the
integrated LAN controller, a Broadcom Gigabit Extreme. XP drivers
wouldn't work, Windows does not accept those. Does anybody know where I
can find drivers for that combination?

Thank you,

Kind Regards,

Roland

Hi Al,

thanks for your reply.

I tried those drivers there, but Windows wouldn't install them.
Pointing the assistant to the directory containing the files made it
not recognize the device. I tried to pick the driver manually using the
"Have Disk" button, but it would not start (error code 10).

Are device drivers different between Windows Server 2003 and Server
2003 R2? Or do you have any other thoughts?

Thanks,

Roland

Drivers are the same.

You did download win_xp_2k3_32-9.81d.zip, correct ? The MD5 is:
c09e4834cf18cca773e8ae5b63f79758

Does this directory contain b57xp32.sys, b57win32.cat, and b57xp32.sys ?

Yes, that's the file I downloaded. Maybe the LAN part of the mainboard
is faulty. I think I'll just get a PCI NIC for a few bucks and save
time.
However, thanks for your help.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver one more time via Device
Manager.

Start|run|msinfo32|Components|Problem Devices| See anything here ?

If you do decide on a PCI NIC, the Linksys LNE100TX and the 3Com 3C905
series are both well supported by Windows, Linux, and the BSDs.
