Abit and Monitor Problem

Hi,
I built a new PC using the abit KX7-333 motherboard (BIOS B6) and have
a Dell monitor P991 19".

Problem I have is when windows power saving turns off the monitor (by
default after 20mins) the monitor blacks out but the power LED on the
monitor flashes between Green and Amber continuously until I move the
mouse or use the keyboard - then it turns back on again. The monitor
doesn't seem to power off properly as it still gets hot when in
standby.

I have tried this with 2 monitors of the same type so it's not the
monitor problem and I use the same monitors at work and they all turn
off (amber power light) when windows turns off the power.

Also I used to have an older monitor (17" Dell) and they never had the
problem.

Any Ideas?

Monitor standby mode in the BIOS. Well that's what it is on the KG7-Raid.

Thanks for the reply but I don't seem to have a monitor standby mode in the BIOS.

Just to add I have an ABIT Siluro GF4 MX440 Graphics card.

Any Other ideas?

I know the fact that I'm using a Viewsonic monitor isn't a help but, I have no problems with it and my KX7-333.
Running 98FE. And have the monitor shut off in desktop display properties .
I end up with a blinking LED on the monitor til mouse movement of key press.
And it comes up fine.

As far as win98se if you right click on the desktop then click on "Properties"
then select the "Screen Saver" tab then click on the "settings" button in the
"Energy saving feature of Monitors" box you will find some of the power saving
settings that can be adjusted.
