Almost two months ago I put together a new system using the following an
Intel D915GEV mobo and ABIT's version of the ATI RX300 SE-Guru. This is
a PCI Express video card that allows for easy overclocking, but I didn't
overclock. It ran fine for almost 2 months, then suddenly the video
started locking up. While running Windows XP, it would cause the OS to
panic and then reboot. Eventually, the system would not run XP at all
and the video would even freeze on POST display (system would keep
booting, only the video image froze).
The mobo does have a crappy on board video, so I switched to that. I
could run XP and Fedora Core 3, though the video was much slower.
Finally, I totally nuked the harddrive and started over. The ABIT card
will still not work. Could this card have gone bad already? I did
update the mobo's BIOS, but still no dice. It almost seems like it is
over heating or something. When the board is cold to the touch, the
video does not freeze till the XP login screen. Once warmed, the image
will freeze during the text mode display of memory. ANy ideas?
Thanks.
