So I'm trying to fix my parents computer (HP Pavilion 753C). HP must
have hidden the BIOS info that comes up at the beginning of startup.
I'm assuming that if you knew the correct key to press you could still
access BIOS. Does anyone know what key(s)? I already tried [del].

I dont have much XP experience. I want to be able to boot off CD,
reformat HD, then reinstall everything.

Thanks in advance for all help,
Jason

Here ya go:
If you want to go into the Setup program, press the [F1] key after the Hewlett-Packard logo screen
appears but before the system begins to start Windows. Once the power button has been pressed, you
have about five seconds to press [F1] to enter Setup before the boot process continues.

HTH...luck...

Try pressing the F1 key and see if that doesn't bring up the BIOS
settings menus...

I know this is an ancient thread, but some might come upon it searching for the same info.

Some HP Pavilions have 2 bios options. Normal ( F1 ) or Advanced ( F11 )

Advanced is still limited, but you can access the fan and thermal controls to turn off those annoying fan errors at startup.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) - Pavilion, TouchSmart, Vectra, OmniBook, Tablet

Press the F1 key after restarting the computer.
HP Tablet PCs may use F10 or F12.
Other HP computers may allow access to BIOS using the F2 or Esc keys.

Hi,
I am desperately trying to re- install my HP 6680j - I have discovered that :
1, Windows XP SP2 installation would not recognize the disk drives
2. There is no aparent way to change the SATA settings in the BIOS menu (F10). It seems that HP blocks most of the BIOS functions.
I have tried a bootable removable storage with the intel F6 drivers but it would not be recognized?
Any ideas? suggestions?
Thanks
Am
