Acronis True Image?

I have a backup of my hard drive stored on a Seagate external hard drive. I
created the backup using True Image V.8. But now when I try to restore the
image from the external drive to my computer's hard drive, it just reboots,
shows the true image screen for a minute and then reboots to Windows. At one
point it said "no hard-drives found".
Does anyone have any experience of True Image?

P.S. My pc is a Dell Dim 9200

I think you may need a newer version of True Image. Or, alternatively,
burn the image file to optical media, or temporarily install the drive
internally (this may not work if it's an SATA drive).

Joe,
Did you have Acronis Recovery Manager enabled? If not then you will need the
Installation CD for TrueImage.
Put it into the CD-ROM>Then Reboot PC> During the Dell BIOS check press F2>
You will need to set the PC to boot from CD-ROM. When TrueImage software
boots you need to select to open the program from the CD.

1. Then select the wizard to recover files and folders> Browse to xxx.TIB
file that you created when you did the backup. Select to Recover the Drive>
Select from the file the C:\ Drive thats listed there> Select it to be
installed in the same partition that the current C:\ drive is in. Then
Select Proceed. Let the program run. Close TrueImage when done and let it
boot up normally first changing up which drive the PC boots up from, or just
removing the TrueImage CD, from the CD-ROM

Now one problem you might run into. If at the time that you created the
backup image, you did not save the file through the program into a folder
designated as a backup location, you MAY not be able to use that backup, as
is.

2. You will need to have TrueImage installed on your PC. Once that is
done.Browse to the folder or partition that you made the image file of the
drive you back upped. Create a new folder, name it something that you can
easily remember.
A. Then run TrueImage software> Run the Backup Location Wizard and
choose the folder that you just created as a backup location for the
Program.
B. Then make a COPY of the xxx.TIB file, and placing it in the folder
that you created. Leaving the original where it is.
C. Repeat step#1, but this time Browse to the folder containing the copy
of the xxx.TIB file as your source for recovery. See if that works.

I have been using TrueImage10 on my dim.9250 many times without any problem.
Seagate has a free download of True Image 10 , renamed Seagate disk wizard, and
restricted to computers with at least one seagate or maxtor drive.
You need it.
TrueImage 8 is not entirely compatible with SATAdrives.

Latest....

I have tried all I can think of to get this to work, but True Image does not
want to know about my sata drives. I've tried the windows version, the boot
cd version, but the program keeps saying it can't find any hard drives. Very
strange, as it 'did' make a backup of my satas 2 weeks ago onto the Seagate
USB external drive. So, I have a backup of my drive which I now can't
re-install. I've been in contact with Acronis who make the program and both
their 'chat with support' email from their technicians have produced
nothing. The told me to download a patch/update, which I did, but had no
effect on the situation whatsoever.

My seagate is an IDE/ATA drive with USB connection.

sata drives in my system.
