Adaptec 2400A RAID-5 Controller Rebuild Time

I am using an Adaptec 2400A raid controller for a 600GB raid5 array
(4x200GB); I recently replaced a disk to test the rebuild feature, and
found that the rebuild for one disk replacement (from BIOS) takes 24
hours.

Can anyone confirm this? Is this an anomaly or does rebuild really
take this long?

yes, its normal. you have 200GB of space to reconstruct, even if there
is nothing on the disk, it will still go through the whole 200GB. and
it only has a tinny little processor on the card to do all the
crunching.
