Adding AGP Card for 3rd Monitor

Members,

Considering adding 3rd monitor to a system with the following specs:

Windows XP (Home ed.), P4 (2.40 GHz), 1.00 GB RAM, 2-video head AGP video
card (Nvidia GeForce4 MX 440). Can I add a 3rd monitor to the system by
simply adding another AGP card? Online research suggests there may be some
conflicts with hardware.

The 1st consideration is can you put a 2nd AGP card in your computer? I
don't think there are very many, if any, motherboards with dual AGP slots!

Yes, most likely second card will need to be PCI.

well things is with most NVDIA geforce4 MX 440 the system of two monitors
tends to be slow n sluggish
trying 3...hmmmm... well lets just say gets the salute of " try it at your
own risk"
i have yet to see a mobo (motherboard) which supports 2 display cards on the
same board.
yea u have the option of using a display card which supports two monitors
but not two cards...
i seen a reply that says the 2nd card can be a PCI ...well its not the full
truth
with win xp it and the onboard BIOS of the mobo only recognizes only one
card at any one time
so even two cards it will only use one of the two cards
but please do try to prove me wrong...:-)
well one solution u could try networking but u require two systems or more
then
but at least it wont be sluggish

If you want 3 monitors, why not get one of the newer boards with dual
PCI-express slots for video cards? I know most of them spout SLI, where
the cards share the responsibility for a single display, but the Via web
site showed a system with 2 PCI-e video cards and 4 monitors.

I've had 4 cards in a machine running 1 monitor each. Maybe your mobo bios
doesn't support it.
