I have just noticed that when I create an alias to a file on a shared
volume (10.4 or 10.6) and copy it to the current volume (10.4) the
alias icon on the current volume changes to a folder. Furthermore,
some aliases are 4 kb while others are as large as 1 mb.

Perhaps this has been going on all along but I never noticed it. Can
anyone explain it?

Aliases may contain the full icon set of the target file object.

Either most of the users here are liars or they simply never use
custom icons...
But i've noticed that Icons may be very fragile under a variety of
conditions...
For months now, everyone has been trying to make me believe that it's
just me! or my computer,
But i suspect that it's an endemic problem that nearly everyone is in
denial of...!!!
