All-in-one PSC 1510 scanner problem

I have a Hewlett Packard psc 1510 that up till now has been running
fine but has suddenly decided it wants to start scanning for no
apparent
reason.......if left unattended it will crank up over 2-300 attempts
to "do
something"
This group of errors comes under something called "KeyGrip". When I
check
task manager, the hpqkygrp.exe file is working overtime and even when
I "end
the process" it comes back immediately.
When the scanner first attempts to interfere, the nessage "This
application
is currently in use or unavailable. Close all other applications and
try
again" appears.
Even when I disconnect the power and data cable from the scanner, it
still
tries to do its thing although obviously the message now says the
scanner is
not connected correctly.
I have uninstalled the scanner, updated the driver but still cannot
solve
the problem.
I have Googled here, there and everywhere and whilst this particular
file is
well documented there is nothing that refers to this problem
Any help appreciated

i also tryed to install a PSC 1200, the installation goes ok, but when
i launch HP direct, this don't show the option for the scanner usage,
it show only the guide and the image viewer.

Only one comment, but not exactly a lot of help. HP's quality assurance
testing of its scanner software leaves much to be desired. As a rule, if you
install scanner software for two different scanners, the software gets really
confused, as you have seen.

The only realistic solution I can imagine is a potentially difficult one.
Uninstall all the scanner software. Then download and run CCleaner (Crap
Cleaner), a very nice bit of free software that deletes all the useless stuff
left behind in the Windows registry when software is uninstalled. Then try
installing one or the other set of scanner software again. You could also
manually edit the Windows registry, but I do not recommend this except for
people who are fearless or crazy. One other point: An uninstall of HP software
often leaves behind a residue of old files which can foul up the reinstallation
of the same software... Ben Myers
