Hi,

I need some advice whith choosing a new cpu. AMD or Intel? Could you
post some positive and negative aspects of both of the cpu's. Whats
new in the technology? What should I be aware of?

Thanx

I am partial to Intel systems, because they are usually cheaper and rate
better when compared to the Intel "eqivalent". AMD introduced the Athlon 64
which utilizes 64 bit technology, which will become standard soon. Intel's
64 bit chip sux with 32 bit apps (so I heard).

However, Intel seems to be set up in a more professional manner, if that is
important to you.

Oh, and AMD, if you need a replacement CPU (in warranty) and call their
(TOLL, no toll-free) number, you get an AMERICAN speaker, who will bend over
backwards to help ya!

BUT: Technology in CPUs is in a transitional state at this time, so I would
put off til early 2005 if you can stand to. By this time, 64 bit should be
pretty well standardized, and the new AMD interface will be more popular
(and cheaper).

If you need one now, my belief is AMD.
