Hi guys,
I am afraid I'll have to ask for your advice...

As read on the subject, I am planning to change my KT7A with a newer
motherboard; to say the truth, I am unable to decide what could be the best
choice...
Can anyone suggest? The AN7 looks like an excellent choice but the other two
appear to be great.
Any pros and cons?

Of course, assuming I am willing to remain faithful to Amd

Any advice greatly appreciated (even a different one)

TIA,

Stefano

Hi Stefano -

I'd personally go with the NF7-S revision 2.0 - it's a more mature
motherboard and, it seems, the kinks have been well worked out of it.

The AN7 continues to have issues with stability. There are some who claim
the AN7 is a great board but, from the number of problem posts I've seen,
I'd steer back to the NF7-S.

The NF7-S2G is a dumbed down board with the addition of a gigabit LAN. The
BIOS for the NF7-S2/NF7-S2G doesn't have near the overclocking capability of
the NF7-S (multiplier and FSB adjustment are completely absent).

Stephano,

I have the AN7 and have not had any problems with it that weren't my fault.
I had a minor problem not accessing the SATA drive, but it was because of
the case I put it in. Everything has been stable but I have to admit that I
do very little overclocking.

I mentioned once before that there seemed to be many more posts with
problems with the NF7 than the AN7, but that could be that there are more
NF7 boards around. I really don't think that you can go wrong with either
one. My main reason for using the AN7 was for the SP/DIF out. The NF7
didn't have it then, but may have it now.

The NF7-S has SP/DIF out.

I have AN7 and have had no problems, even the guru chip works for me
overclocking from 166fsb to 200fsb with 1 click no lock ups.
Am overclocking a 2500xp mobile to 3200xp speeds at 1.5v very stable not a
hiccup.

I went for the NF7 S2G for a number of reasons.

1) I don't overclock and the S2G gives me all the flexibility I need.

2) I read somewhere, (and I'm willing to be corrected as I can't remember
the source), that the earlier Nvidia chipsets used the PCI bus to implement
the SATA. This appeared to interfer with the Nebula TV cards and a number of
people were forced to exchange their PCI version for USB ones. I have a
Nebula PCI card and I couldn't be sure which version of the chipsets were in
any of the boards but the S2G.

3) I have a local network and I thought it would be neat to have a Gb LAN
connection from my server to the Multimedia PC attached to a TV.

4) The board has been perfectly stable (a month), after I sorted out a RAM
voltage problem.

5) I don't need the Soundstorm audio as I have a SB Live card that I am
perfectly happy with, considering the low spec speakers I use and the SB
Live gives me a gameport for my Sidewinder joystick.

Just my 2p

regards
Ed

Hi,
I have built using the NF7-S (v2.0) and the AN7. They both are good boards,
but I think I will have to give the nod to the AN7 as it has more features
than the NF7-S (v2.0):

1) uGuru - Nice to have for accurate readings and to save O/C Profiles
2) ALC-658 audio, adds optical-in
3) More USB ports built in
