Did you try a repair install using the WinXP you've got on the
RAID array ? Maybe that will give you an opportunity to press F6
and install drivers via floppy.

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

I think someone discovered another procedure, but I doubt I could
track it down in Google (I don't know what would be good search
terms). The repair install could be easier. The thing is, the RAID
installer won't run when the controller is in non-RAID mode, and
the system won't boot if the controller is in RAID mode - makes
switching rather difficult. Which is why Intel has their "RAID ready"
recommendation, of installing the RAID driver from "day one".

I have installed WinXP and all the latest drivers(Asus Install Disk) and
fixes via Microsoft internet downloads. The system consists of a P5B Deluxe
MB, an Intel E6600 Processor, 2 Gigs of Corsair Memory, an XFX 7900GS Video
Card, two Maxtor Maxline III 250G SATA II drives, a Pioneer DVD Burner
connected to the PATA port and a Samsung DVD Burner connected to an Intel
SATA port. The system came up and ran with zero problems - a first!
However, now that I know the system is stable and I have all the latest
drivers, etc. loaded I wanted to Ghost 2003 the system to a backup DVD,
change the Bios settings for Raid, setup the Array, setup the desired
partitions and reload WinXP from the DVD backup via Ghost 2003. All of that
worked without a problem - except WinXP did not want to boot normally. I
thought when I loaded the drivers from the Asus Setup CD that it would
install the Raid drivers like the P4PE did - wrong?! Finally, to the
question - is there any way to load the Raid Drivers while WinXP is running
in standard SATA mode or do I have to start over and re-install WinXP using
the Floppies that contain the Raid Drivers for the two onboard controllers?
Thought I knew what I was doing since all of the above worked when playing
with the old Asus P4PE MB. Help would be appreciated.

1) Do NOT use winupdate fore drivers
2)Start over and use F6 to install during the process, allthough you could
try a repair install + F6
PS because the sys was stable without raid doesnt neccessarily mean it will
be stable with raid, so I fail to see why you went through this convoluted
process

Because Raid was just another variable in a totally new hardware setup AND
it was very easy to do with the old P4PE and the Promise Raid controller.
Knowing what I now know it wasn't such a good idea with Intel. But... I
still can get back to the non-raid setup without tooooo much trouble. I'll
try the repair approach and see what happens. Otherwise, I'll wait for a
cold snowy day and start over with a fresh install using the Raid setup
floppies.

The solution is simple. Restart the computer and immediately after post
repeatedly press F8 (don't hold it down). Select safe mode. let the
computer boot then restart normally.

Thanks for the information. I took the "easy" way out and just reloaded
WinXP following the F6 rules. System is up and running with no problems.

Didn't work for me. That was the first thing I tried. I don't think the
Intel RAID driver was present. It's there now since I reinstalled!!
