asus a8v sata hd not installing please help

ok so i go out and buy a Asus a8v motherboard and a wd 320g hd sata
now this is a clean setup starting from fresh... so i build the pc
power it up and in the loading screen i see that bios sees the
hd(theblack loading screen) but in bios i dont see the hd.. i made sure
that sata boot is enabled, and started installing windows... after
windows telling me that it did not find a storage device i searched the
net for people with the same problems as me and i found alot... so i
got to asus and dl the promise sata make a disc setup made it.. and hit
f6 while installing windows.. got the choose from screen hit "s" and
choose the file from the floppy drive, it read it and continue to
install windows.. then i got a screen saying windows did not find a
storage device again..
i am not trying to connect a new hd to a old setup
i am not trying to have more then one drive.
i am trying to install a clean setup on a brand new hd on a brand new
mb and hd
any help would be find..
p,s when i hit tab to acces the other option screen the raid bios see's
my 320gig hd.. but i cant choose anything but esp...

Even a new hd, or mobo, can be dead on arrival, and if its not seen in the
bios when it is connected *correctly* then it probably is.

I think you are where i just came from. The A8V uses the via vt8237 raid
controller. It is an older controller and cannot communicate with the
300MB/s speed of youe drive. Set the jumper on your sata drive to the
150MB/s setting and it should work tho your drive speed is halved at least
it will work.

I had to connect on the stata 2 connection first on the mb. Why I do not
know. Installed then eventually switch it back to the stata 1 (top) after
install.
