AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH COMPUTERRA.COM

These people are manipulating the pricewatch feedback system.
They are blackmailing people into leaving positive feedback. For instance,
I placed an order on 11-17 with my visa card via the web.
I get a response via email saying order is processed. on 11-18 Karl Preston
emails me saying I had to call 440-363-5544 to "confirm the order. Once I
finally get up with him, (took a full day and 7 calls with NO 800 number
btw) he trys to sell me drivers and cables and the "retail version" of the
motherboard I wanted. I told him, no. Process the order, can you ship it
out today? I really need it, I even upgraded my shipping to fedex 3 day the
day before because I needed it right away. His reply was this.. well I can
do that "favor" for you, IF, you go to pricewatch and give us favorable
feedback, I told him, so far I've not seen anything that warranted a
positive feedback, so far I've had my order delayed so you can try to sell
me something that should come with the motherboard anyway. He then goes on
to explain that pricewatch is in the middle of an appraisal and that if I
could do that, he would personally see to it that my order went out that
same day. Here is the status of my order history.
Nov 17, 2004 4:58PM: Order Received
Nov 20, 2004 6:13PM: Processing
Nov 22, 2004 1:13PM: Sent to Warehouse
Nov 22, 2004 2:45PM: Cancelled

Once I realized he lied to me, to get feedback, I immediately called up
computerra and cancelled my order. I've purposely just blocked them from my
browser so I don't accidentally buy something from them in the future. I
will also be posting the details of this transaction on the relevant news
servers to warn other potential customers to avoid doing business with these
people.

I've noticed a trend lately where pricewatch dealers lowball their prices
then try to sell you a box to ship your motherboard in or something else
silly like that. I actually had somebody last week sell me a modem, make me
pay an extra dollar for the software, ship the modem (with other stuff) and
when it gets here the software is not included. I email them and they say
that they are out of the drivers and cant even give me a link, a
manufacturer or anything. I'm stuck with a modem that I cannot use. Please
do pricewatch a favor and make your vendors act with integrity and honesty.
Computerra should be BANNED from ever using your service, they are
manipulating the one thing that lets new users know what they are doing, the
feedback system. As of this point, I'm really having my doubts about using
pricewatch any longer, the quality of vendor service has gone from mediocre
to horrific. If you care for more information or if I can help in anyway,
please contact me at ... or better yet, contact pricewatch and mention this
post and your problems with computerra.com

if you've had similar problems with computerra and you've used pricewatch to
find them, contact me.
I'd like to put enough pressure on pricewatch to drop computerra.com from
ever using their system to bilk customers.

Jerry,

This message will only be seen by a very few people. I think you
should repeat it on a few other groups where a lot of people could
read it.

So, if you'd checked them out on www.resellerratings.com *before* ordering,
you would have known not to do business with them.
Their 6 month rating is 4.00 (horrible) and they are employing all means to
improve their image so as to bilk more suckers.
Next time check resellerratings first, and save yourself the hassle and lost
money.

www.newegg.com

No reason to shop elsewhere that I have found.
1) You will rarely beat the price and when you do it will not be by much and
I am talking less than a few percent. Key here compare the cost to get it to
your door.
2) Service. It is second to none. I live in Alabama and they are in
California although some of there stuff ships from New Jersey and some from
Tennessee. I have NEVER waited over a week for anything I ordered from them,
most came in three business days and I have bought around ten thousand
dollars worth of stuff.
3) The few times I needed to return something it was totally hassle free.
4) Great website. Thorough product descriptions with links to the
manufactures site, reviews, and pictures
They are literally the Wal-Mart of computer parts.

Choosing a good vendor is a really important thing. I made the mistake
of ordering my mobo and CPU from a crap vendor. When my stuff came, it
came in a cardboard box with no return address or any information on
warranty or the vendor.* I learned my lesson. ALWAYS use a notable
vendor. I would say always use newegg. They are really cheap and have
great service. I would have avoided a big screwup if I had used them
instead.

*I still don't really know who I bought from. I haven't looked very
hard, but I think it would have been nice if they put their name
somewhere on the box.

Just searched for a new PC.A ready to go from a "cheapest Merchant on
the list" and a well know reputable Vendor like Amazon are only 30$
difference.
For this small Amount,i will not risk anything.Maybe the cheaper
Vendor might be out off business in 6 month...Where do i get support
and warranty??????????
