I installed a PCI-based Firewire Adaptec 4300 card into my PC with a BE6
board. It boots fine into Windows 2000 but at the point where it is
finalizing the boot and just about to recognize new hardware and ask for
drivers the system locks. It is definitely due to the card as I remove it
and it works normal again, put it back in and it locks again. When I go
into safe mode to install the driver from there it Blue Screens with a
K-Mode exception not handled error. Is there a setting in the bios that I
need to change? The card requirements say it needs a board that does bus
mastering and I assume the BE-6 does. Has anybody else experienced this
sort of thing with a PCI add on Firewire card? Thanks.

Martin
