bios problem with a7v8x-x - please help

My mainboard a7v8x-x came with bios version 1006 , when I try to install the
new bios 1008 , my computer boots normal and everything looks great in
windows xp but whenever I start a game (flightsim) or 3Dmark2003 the
computer freeeze and I have to restart.

My display card is Radeon 9700Pro 128MB. I have the latest display drivers.

I have tried different settings in the bios from default but nothing helps.
Still the bios looks different from 1006 but I dont understand why the
computer freeze everytime I start a game?

So any ideas what to do? Im back with the old bios now but Im not happy with
it.

What is your memory and CPU? if PC400 and CPU below XP3200, put memory
setting in BIOS to 333 instead of auto

Thanks I will try that

I got my computer working with the old bios 1006 but big problems using the
latest bios , I had to disable AGP 8x , change it to 4x in the ATI control
panel. (not possible to do in the bios)
