Boot using external monitor by default (Inspiron 1150)

Is there any way to set an Inspiron 1150 to boot using the external
monitor by default rather than the LCD?

My LCD screen's "light bulb" is not working, so I am using an external
monitor for now, however, every boot I must hit the function lcd/crt
button to switch it.

I checked the BIOS, but could not find a setting for that. I am using
the A04 BIOS, and will upgrade to A07 tonight to check if the
functionality has been added.

Thanks

Cory

It should detect the monitor and use it automatically. Do you perhaps have
it in dual monitor mode?

The monitor is always connected and on. It happens immediately even
after a reboot (before the monitor has gone into power saving mode - so
it should be detected).

The A07 did not help that I could see (no option that I could find).

I have tried many many reboots while both in external monitor only,
both monitors, etc.

Any more ideas appreciated...

Thanks

Cory

I doubt that you can set it to use the external monitor by default.

Can you imagine the number of calls would get from users who set it to use
the external by default, then carried the laptop to use it somewhere else
without remembering to change the default setting?
Ooops...
