Can a laptop work without a monitor?

Quick newbie type of question.

I have an hp nc6120 laptop. Monitor is broken!!! However I am using
an external monitor with it even though the monitor is broken. To
make it easier, is it possible to remove the monitor so I will only
have the bottom part of the laptop? I would disconect the monitor
from the sys board and use the external vga output...

Most notebook computers will work with the LCD screen detached. I often test
notebooks being repaired exactly that way. Odds are good your nc6120 will work
OK without the LCD screen... Ben Myers

I think I'll just go ahead and give it a try.

Hopefully it works, if not, oh well, I'll just put it back on
