canon flat bed scanner

I have a Canon flat bed scanner and when the power is switched on the
moving part, the scanner , moves down and then up to the top of the
screen and the blue light comes on. It continues and I cannot switch
it off unless the power is switched off by removing from the USB
port.. When power is switched on again it continues to scan.What can I
do to correct this problem

try uninstallind the drivers whith the scanner off. then reinstall them.

LGJ thanks for your help but unfortunately it did not solve my
problem. Have you any more advice ? Has anybody any advice ?
