My MSI GNB Max motherboard has suddenly started to
refuse to complete a warm boot. It gets part way through
the BIOS messages (not always the same place) and hangs.
If I try four or five times it will finally complete the process.
Once it's running, however, it's steady as a rock. I leave it
on 24/7 and it is extremely stable. The only time I reboot
is after installing or uninstalling various pieces of software
that require a reboot. This started happening about the same
time as I installed Vista but I'm pretty sure that's just a
coincidence since it hangs well before any OS software starts
to load. Is it possible for bad caps to cause this? Maybe not
charging up or discharging properly?

Are the caps bulging or leaking brown goo?

For bad caps see-:
http://home.earthlink.net/~doniteli/index27.htm

More interesting reading-:
http://www.niccomp.com/taiwanlowesr.htm
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,939887,00.asp

Power supply could cause the problem and so could overheating.. fans
becoming choked with dust etc.

You will get bios post, Power On self Test (bios boot as many refer
to) with all the drives disconnected inc. the hard drive leaving just
the CPU, RAM and Graphic card you won't get past bios without the
Graphic card.
