Hi all,

I have an HP Pavilion 8668c with a CDwr drive that is not working. I
am getting "output from device" errors and Cd drive getting ready
messages, but it never works.

The burner used to work, and I think the problem is related to a
recent computer crash. I think I might need a driver, but I'm not
sure. I'm am not very good at this sort of thing. If I need a
driver, could you walk me through that process? How do you know which
one? Where do you get them? How do you load?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

At minimum, a CD-RW device should be able to read CDs just like a CD-ROM drive,
without need for any special drivers. Make sure you can read with it first.

To burn CDs, you need CD burning software... Ben Myers

I think the root of your problems is the AOL software is causing all
these problems. Complaining about it to AOL won't get you anywhere.
Look at this:

http://www.bway.net/~dfassoc/crash.html

AOL SOFTWARE IS GARBAGE. IT CAUSES ALL SORTS OF PROBLEMS TO PERFECTLY
RUNNING COMPUTER SYSTEMS.

Sheesh.....

It seems that most of you can't even realize that this software is
trouble.

Gee, I've been running AOL since 1996, on 5 different machines, AOL versions
2.5 thru 8, Windows 3.1 thru 98SE, and it hasn't caused me any of the problems
you're inferring.

Well, it is getting worse and worse. You never know until the problems
get worst. AOL's software is getting more bloated and more
problematic.
