Just to report my recent experience, as a warning to others.

I bought a Celeron E1400, to go into a an MM box. It's more than
powerful enough for the way I want to use it.

But I didn't see anywhere in the sales literature that it's bundled with
a 3 wire fan - that is, one that at least some motherboards (including
some of Intel's) cannot control the speed of. So the thing runs at
2700RPM all the time.

The idea of promoting the CPU's digital thermal sensor, and then
supplying a fan that will likely not allow the sensor to be effective
seems like a rip-off to me.

A four wire fan is on order, but for the extra money I could have bought
a higher power processor (never know when that will come in useful)
bundled with a 4 wire fan.

Definitely annoyed.

Sylvia.
