Common cause of keyboard malfunction

bought a new used laptop. using it at beginning, several keys not
responding. rebooted and no problems since. What is most common cause of
such a transitory keyboard malfunction on a toshiba centrino?

Digital circuits sometimes gets a bit toggled wrong. Lots of reasons for
this. A power surge, timing error, etc. So when it happens once in a
bluemoon, it shouldn't surprise anybody and nothing to worry about.
