The other day my Compaq Presario 2195us did not wanted to charge the
battery or operate plugged in. It started when sometimes, while
plugged, it will suddenly go in battery, after some movement of the
plug, it again charged. But one time suddenly, it just stopped
charging, and it wouldn't operate on DC, or even without the battery.
Well obvious to say, after the charge of the battery was lost, I was
without a laptop. A useless paperweight. I used the last battery juice
to backup to my server before losing all power and went on the dead
zone.
After much research I became aware of the dc motheboard plug break
which possibly will cause this problem, Which represented a
replacement of the plug and resoldering to the motherboard. Or even
possibly the replacement of the motherboard completely.
I took a longshot and started with the possibility that it was the ac
adapter that failed and went ahead and purchased one by the internet
for $ 39.99 immediatly.
I just got it by way of DHL, plugged in, an guess what, it was the ac
adapter......so for 39.99 I have my laptop back in business.
So if your compaq presario does the same, do not always assume the
worst and start with the simple first.
