Compaq Presario CQ70 Blue screen when trying to play DVDs

If I try to run a DVD I get the blue screen and the laptop restarts. If I run in safemode there is no issue, and it plays audio CDs and CDROMs with no issues.

I am wanting to install Windows 7, but cannot until this issue is sorted.
