Hey.

Although having set my system to "Silent" in bios, the cpu fan runs at about
1750rpm which makes it very loud.
No matter the settings it still runs at 1750rpm.
Anyone here with the same board, that has succesfully lowered the fan speed?

Are you using a retail Intel fan (4 pin) or a third party
cooler with 3 pin fan ?

What settings are you using in the BIOS ?

Is the fan powered by a Molex 1x4 disk drive power connector ?

I use a Thermaltake Blue Orb (3 pin).
Use Silent in bios (silent - normal - performance)

When I look in the manual for your board, there is
no mention of a "voltage" versus "PWM" option. PWM
is the easy option for the motherboard designer, and
sends a signal to the fourth pin on the connector.
Voltage mode control, involves a power transistor and
works with the 12V pin, and is suitable for 3 pin fans.
Some motherboards have the option for both methods. If
voltage mode control is missing, then the Q-fan feature
would only work with a four pin Intel fan.

I'm not aware of any products, that will translate the signal
from the fourth PWM signal, into a voltage control method. It
shouldn't be that hard to do.

If you want control of the fan speed, this will slow
the fan down for you - a FanMate2. Of course, this will
not be sensitive to CPU temperature, but would give a
steady fan speed.
