Dell docs are not very helpful and show two possible chipsets for (3)
similar models:

Intel shows that the 910GML chipset only supports 400mhz FSB CPUs:

Without digging further, you're going to HAVE to identify the specific
chipset in that machine to know if the CPU is supported or not.
Right now I can only guess to say that:
1) The CPU is incompatible
2) The CPU is incompatible w/o a BIOS flash preceding installation
3) The CPU has failed.
Which means nothing until you identify what chipset your machine actually
has. I'm guessing incompatiblity at this point.
