hi i have a dell inspiron 1300 with a mobile intel celeron 1.5 cpu and
i read a while back that (on a reliable website) the max cpu for my
laptop is 2.8 mobile intel celeron. so i went ahead and brought a 2.5
mobile intel celeron cpu. and put it into my laptop and fitted
everything how it should be (everything fits and ino im putting it in
the right way) and when i go to turn it on all that happens is the
power on led turns on for 2 seconds n then goes away. theres no fan
noise or anything! is there anything u guys can suggest to help me fix
this problem?

Dell docs are not very helpful and show two possible chipsets for (3)
similar models:
http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...n/om/om_en.pdf
(page 97)

Intel shows that the 910GML chipset only supports 400mhz FSB CPUs:
http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/910gml/index.htm

Without digging further, you're going to HAVE to identify the specific
chipset in that machine to know if the CPU is supported or not.

Right now I can only guess to say that:

1) The CPU is incompatible
2) The CPU is incompatible w/o a BIOS flash preceding installation
3) The CPU has failed.

Which means nothing until you identify what chipset your machine actually
has. I'm guessing incompatiblity at this point.
