cpu upgrade problem

I upgraded my ab60r MB from a 1.8 gig to a 3.0 gig northwood. Now it will not go into windows unless I disable onboard cache, then it is extremely slow. I updated bios and tried everything I can think of.
512 DDR400 mem
SATA 80gig HD
