Dick,
The reason your 1907FP is 'washed out' is because its an inferior monitor..
Its using a 6 bit panel instead of the earlier 1905FP's 8 bit panel. Thats
why its refresh rate is faster (8ms vs 20ms on the earlier 1905fp), but the
price you pay is much less contrast ability, more washed out, and viewing
angle with very sharp cutoff.
Im afraid research is showing its a sign of the times. Why did Dell go with
an inferior monitor when they changed from the 1905fp to the 1907fp?
Because with today's emphasis on gaming, its the refresh rate which sells
monitors. Hence, to compete against the other inexpensive monitors which
feature gaming refresh rates, they had to sacrifice. Dell has been 'caught'
using different panels in different 1907fps to boot, making it even more
difficult to track quality. What they really need to do is to establish a
budget line and a not so budget line, and to LET THE CUSTOMER KNOW THE
DIFFERENCE, instead of hiding behind the lie that the new 1907fps are the
latest and greatest.. Clearly theyre not.
