Dell 8300 - 1901FP Problem

Received my new Dell 8300 with the 1901FP Digital Flat Panel Display and the ATI 128MB DDR
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, but can seem to get the DVI to work. If I plug in the Analog cable
the monitor works just fine as an Analog. But if I take of the Analog cable and plug in
the DVI cable, the monitor does not respond (just have a box going across the screen say
"testing analog display" - or words to that effect).

Anyone have any ideas on what could be the cause of this. Called Dell and work for over
an hour with one of the support person, but he could not solve the problem. Provided me a
case # and a number to call tomorrow for "advance operating system support".

I'm not sure it's a software problem as the system is not started at the time. With the
CPU off, and the analog cable attached, I get the normal blank monitor when switched on
waiting for bootup. Plug in the DVI cable (after removing the Analog cable) and get the
Analog box moving across the screen and the monitor does not respond.

Any thoughts appreciated.
Charlie

With the DVI cable attached, press the "+" button on the monitor.

Thanks Larry,
It was the "-" button that got it switched over to Digital. Just as I was reviewing your
note, I was connected to Dell Support again and this fellow walked me through it, after a
couple of retries, and we got it working properly. I had looked through all the
documentation I had, including the 1901FP CD Disk and must have missed that little step.
The Dell Support person I was on the phone with last night, spent a total of almost 2
hours with me and did not figure this out!

Thanks for the reply and now I can get down to configging (sp!) and transferring to my new
system!
