Another vote of yes. The power supply cutout in the back of the 4600 chassis
will also handle a PSU with an on-off switch. The Optiplex, Precision, and
Dimension 4000/8000 (4300/4400/4500/4550/8200/8250/8300) chassis does not have
the large cutout, so the choice of standard replacement PSU is more

yes, but some generic power supplies have switches that stick out of the
back of the powersupply that might require cutting the case metal to make it
fit. or a fan located in a place that might result in it being partially
blocked by the case metal. or the power plug located in a place that can be
partially blocked by the case metal.... all said, other than the need to
expeditiously get the thing repaired there is little incentive to buy a
replacement power supply from any place other than dell. only $29.95 plus
$8 shipping direct from dell with 90 day warranty and 21 day return policy.
