Hi All,

Hope all is well with everyone. I have recently received a Dell
Dimension XPS D333 (PII 333 Processor). This mobo has the Intel 440LX
Chipset. This box already has a 3.5" FDD. I would like to install a
5.25" FDD in this box, in addition to the existing FDD. Can this box
support twin FDDs?

Many TIA.

Rick

the documentation suggests that it does support two floppy disk drives, but
no mention of 5.25" type.
it likely does support it, but you will have to try to see. i suggest
trying with the existing cable before investing any more time/money on this.
if it works than you will need a new floppy disk cable that supports two
devices and is long enough for the job. let us know how it works out.

Basically, yes it should support a 5 1/4" drive just fine, however you'll
have to look at the floppy ribbon cable. 3 1/2 floppies and 5 1/4 floppies
use two different types of connectors. You'll need to look at the floppy
cable you have and verify that it has the right style and number of
connectors for both drives.
