Dell Inspiron 6400, Sonic Problem

I've got an Inspiron 6400 that was purchased last April, and had performed
OK so far -- up until today. I decided to delete the Corel Photo software,
and did so through the Add/Remove Programs, apparently without issue. Then
I tried to install an older version of Adobe PhotoShop Elements -- that
simply didn't work, it would go so far then just stop. So, I removed the
disk and rebooted the PC. Suddenly, I got pop-ups insisting that I needed
to install the disk for installation of the Sonic Update Manager. I tried
running the restore disk, which seemed to work OK without problem, but the
Sonic pop-ups persist(!) How do I fix this?

Looking more broadly, can I just wipe the HD and install only what I want
(XP+Office 2003)?

Thanks,

Bart

open add/remove programs and remove the sonic update manager. if that
doesn't work then post again, there is a alternate solution that involves
editing the registry, which is not a desirable thing to do.
