I've had my Dell 1720 , laptop for about 5 months and love it except for one
minor annoyance. I purchased a Logitech Bluetooth mouse ,model
v470, and it seems that at least once/twice a week I have to re-install the
mouse. (nothing happens, and I then have to use the finger pad. I go to
Control Panel, then Bluetooth, have to click on "add" (Peripherals,
keyboards, mice, joysticks). I then click on "my device is set up and ready
to be found". Then the Bluetooth Device Wizard, locates the mouse, and a few
more keystrokes and the mouse is up and running again.

I contacted Dell customer service and we went thru the usual gyrations for
about 1 hour, and the verdict was the Bluetooth wireless card was probably
defective, so they sent me another one. About 4/5 days later It started the
same thing all over again.
Spoke to Logitech, and they said that there were no known issues with the
V470 and Vista Bluetooth software......

I wonder if any other Dell Insprion 1720 owners have had/has the same
problem??. I also wonder if SP1 for Vista will address the problem, with a
Hot Fix. I understand that it should be out mid-March...

Thanks
Barry

Barry,

You have been getting bad information. I have a 1705 with both a BlueTooth
mouse and keyboard.
I had the same problem out of the box. Dell insisted that the problem was a
bad keyboard and mouse(sounds funny right off the top, huh---both bad?). So
Dell replaced both of them and the problem was still there. For over a
month Dell insisted that there were no known software issues.

Wrong. The problem that requires having to re-install the driver to get the
connection to work is a glitch in the BlueTooth driver that was originally
installed. After going back and forth, I finally(after more than a month)
got a Tech that was willing to do some digging. He discovered the driver
problem and updated the BlueTooth driver. That corrected the problem. Or
it has so far, anyhow.

Good Luck,

Lucky
