Hi!

Have a Dell Dim 2400 with which came a Program CD for : Word
Perfect Productivity Pack.

Well after a year or so, I lost the Verification Code. (my dog ate
it?)

I contacted Corel!! Nope, they say, gotta contact Dell.

I contacted Dell. Nope they say I have to contact Microsoft. DUH? What
does MS have to do with it?

I tried MS and spent the whole day lost in a maze.

Can someone offer any ideas as to a way to get the V-code?

Thanks, as usual!

I believe Dell had two productivity packs.

One was basically crom Corel and included Work Perfect, and another
Productivity Pack was based on Microsoft Works.

Perhaps the Dell person was thinking of the wrong one.?

And the reality is that you will likely not find anyone that will do
anything. No one wrote down the number for you and kept it. It was your
responsibility to keep it.

Sorry

Tom

well, sort of.....

to be precise, dell offered a "word perfect productivity pack" which was
made by corel and a "microsoft works suite" package made by microsoft, wich
unlike "microsoft works" (no "suite" on the end) included a full version of
microsoft word. so which did you have? word perfect by corel or word by
microsoft. if you lost your serial number or cd after the first 90 day i
think you are out of luck. of course it can't hurt to ask dell for
replacements but don't be suprised if they say no. but these things are
cheap and sell for under $20 or $40 respectively (this is assuming you want
the same version, meaning the older generation of these programs that would
have come with your 2+ year old dimension 2400).

If the program is still installed, Belarc Advisor or Gabriel Topala's
SIW _might_ be able to retrieve the serial number.

I'm a little skeptical here. Anyone who has used WP for any length time
knows how to find the serial number. Do you need to do a reinstall
because it was deleted from your computer? If that's the case, you're
probably SOL. If you need the serial number for some other legitimate
reason, and the program is still on your machine, open up WP. From the
Help menu, to to "About WordPerfect". That screen "should" have the
serial number.

There's got to be a great MS joke in here, but I can't think of one.
