Posting this for archiving purposes.

I recently got a Dell XPS 400, and immediately went about formatting
the hard drive and installing Windows XP Pro. After installing the
appropriate device drivers, I still had an unwelcome Unknown Device
listed in the Device Manager.

Ultimately the solution was to install the Intel Quick Resume
Technology Driver from Intel's site - this is not something that is
available on Dell's download site. The URL is here:
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...ng&prdmap=2222

>From Intel's site:

"This driver updates Windows* XP Media Center Edition 2005 to allow
Intel® Viiv™ technology-based PCs to behave like consumer electronic
device with instant on/off (after initial boot, when activated)
capability." Of course, I am using it on XP Pro.

The file name is iqrtd110_enu.exe

Hey, thank you for posting this. I'd been going nuts trying to
figure out what my unknown device was. Mine only appeared after
some recent MS *updates*.
