Hello,
I am having trouble detecting the speed of my DDR memory chip. I would
be thankful if anyone can offer any assistance.
The full story: I had recently upgraded my system with a new nForce2
motherboard and an AthlonXP 2600+ CPU, which has a 166/333FSB.
I also purchased one so-called 333DDR memory module (I am aware that I
actually need two of these to take advantage of the DDR setup).
However, the BIOS "Auto" settings set my FSB speed to 133, which to my
understanding should be 166. This led me to the suspect that perhaps
the memory module I acquired is actually a 266DDR memory module.
So the bottom line is, I want to check the speed of my memory module.
Belarc advisor and the windows system information seemed to be of no
help.
Also, what would happen if the memory chip is only 133MHz, and I set
the FSB to 166? Would that even work? If so, I suppose it would be
considered overclocking - but just what exactly would be
overclocked?...
Thank you very much in advance.
