Due to an 1801 Microcode patch error, I believe I need to reflash the bios
in my Compaq Deskpro 933, but obviously want to make sure I d/l the correct
bios. Looking at the HP/Compaq site it's not clear to me how to determine
this. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

You'll have to find out the actual model
number.

The actual model number is on a sticker or decal attached to the chassis. Note
that the same motherboard was used by Compaq in different models, reflecting the
use of a different processor... Ben Myers

You have a microcode patch error. Which means one of 2 things. (A) You
upgraded or changed the cpu, in which case a bios flash will cure it.
(B) Bad juju, in which case deep six the machine. Still can't hurt to
flash the bios, though. (B1) You said REflash, did you attempt a
earlier flash, and how have this problem?

I've worked on a lot of compaqs in this generation. The deskpro's a
pretty reliable machine, really, if you can keep the heat sink and fan
clear of dust. There should be a sticker on the machine that gives you
pretty good information. If you can't work out what it means, just type
it out exactly.

I vote for (A) as most probable... Ben Myers
