It didn't take me long to find a bug in Leopard

1. In mail.app, select text in a received message.
2. Right click (or control-click) on the From address to display a
contextual menu.
3. The selected text is unselected.

The text should remain selected, and did remain selected in Panther and
Tiger.

You're not alone:

Lots of reports coming in of weird stuff. It's to be expected, of
course. Everything this complex ships with bugs.

Did they fix the horribly bad threading in Mail? For some reason Apple
seems unable to manage a simple technology that's been mastered for a
couple of decades or more in newsreaders and in other mail clients.

Thanks. You saved me the trouble of filing it.

Oh, all right. It's done.

BTW, the bug introduced in Tiger that prevents Apple-scripting the
creation of a signature still exists. It's been there for two and a
half years now.

Why should it remain selected? Maybe it was a bug before.

1. Because clicking on a menu without selecting anything from the menu
should not change anything.

2. Because one of the options in that menu is "reply to sender". In
previous versions, choosing that would create the reply message with
only the selected text in the original being quoted in the reply. Now
it quotes the entire original message.

Curiously, that bug does not appear in the "My originated problems"
section any more. Two other bugs, one reported in May 04, and one in
Jan 05, are the only ones still left. I'll file a new bug report.
*sigh*

I should have checked further; it's listed as a duplicate. I updated it.

Re: your point #2 above:

In Tiger's Mail.app if I do as you describe, the entire message gets
quoted in the reply. The selected text gets ignored.
