Disassemble Thinkpad HDD?

Bought an old TP today; bought a 2.5"-3.5" adapter. Need to crack open
the casing on the HDD to hook-up the adapter. Obviously, don't wanna
muck about with things i might possibly screw-up--but seems it has to
be done.

Anyone know how to do this without wrecking the drive or pulling out
the wrong pieces? Thanks in advance.

I have two Thinkpads, one abut 5 years old and the other a couple of
years old, and neither one has a hard drive that you have to open up
to connect. The drive has a connector where it plugs into the laptop,
just unplug it and it should plug directly into your adapter.

Oh wait, you don't mean the HDD itself, you mean the little holder
that slides into the slot in the Thinkpad. Just be a little careful,
take out the obvious screws, don't force things, if it doesn't open
then you left in some screws, so look for them. What model is it?

The a20m has double-sided tape to keep the drive attached to the caddy
IN ADDITION to 4 screws. Weird.

Yeah, the one in my 600e was like that too. Not good "policy," IMO. A
real bitch to separate the drive without bending the THIN caddy.

It's a 760EL, i think. 760-something, anyway. And yeah, just the
outside-casing, because that's what the guy at the shop told me i'd
have to do. But what i really wanna know is: Will i be able to put it
BACK inside the casing, and re-use the drive?

But i might just take the adapter back and buy a floppy from
somewhere, since it would cost about the same, anyway. (Just means
i'll have to wait longer to use this thing....)

Yeah, it shouldn't be a big deal.

I was never too crazy about the 760 series. They had that flexy
keyboard and they ran awfully hot.
