Does anyone still have the T. Waite e-mail address?

I thought I had saved it for possible future needs... but it must be on my
computer without a monitor. If anyone has this address, I would really
appreciate a re-post.

I recommended Gateway to a good friend for a Christmas present within her
family, and as you might have guessed by now, there wasn't a happy outcome. It
wasn't so much that the delivery date was changed so often... but that they
repeatedly lied to her, rather than say they did not have the information, and
would have to advise her later. They shouldn't have told her it had been
shipped, when it had not. Now it is coming "some time" in January.

She doesn't expect anything, but the discounted price for sales AFTER Christmas,
and wants to tell someone who might care, they shouldn't lie to their customers.

If the computer that she has on order has not shipped yet then cancel the
order and place a new one.... As far as indicating that salesperson is lying
that would depend on if they had direct knowledge of the "Post Holiday
Pricing". Typically management of a stores will not tell their salespeople
about a sale weeks in advance. I have been watching the computer prices
through the holidays and as I recall Gateway has offered the following on
various modules:

Pre Christmas

1. Free Shipping
2. Free Shipping and a free Digital Camera
3. Free Shipping, Free Camera and a 5% Discount on the 700XL

Post Christmas:

1. $500.00 Off on specific 700XL Desktops however the Camera and free
shipping options are no longer available.


When did your friend order the computer ??? Have you contacted Gateway about
their price guarantee assuming that is still active.

The lying complaint was about being told the computer HAD shipped on a certain
date, when it had not, and the later shipping date broken promises. When she
checked the web site after Christmas to see the status of their order, she saw
that the price on that system has been reduced $100. Naturally, she feels that
since they are shipping her system in January, rather than as committed, it
should be billed at the new price. I tend to agree.

She ordered in early December; and price guarantee or no, she'll make her pitch.

I would have to agree with based on being told that the system had shipped.
I hope everything works out to their satisfaction. In all my dealings with
Gateway though the years that have always resolved any issues that I have
had both product and delivery to my satisfaction.
