Iīm aware of that thereīs no official FSB533 CPU support for this
motherboard. No, I donīt just wanna replace this motherboard.. ;-)

Iīs lucky to get hold of this rare CPU. I tried to replace the old CPU P4B
2.4 ghz/533/512 witch worked fine for years with this one: P4 3,06 HT
533/512 ( SL6PG )

Now the PC is very slow, always working on some _known_ processes, no virus
or malware, for sure.

The PC is very slow - memory benchmarks / CPU frequency is ok. Even when the
CPU is almost ideling ( happens rarely ) all data transfer is slow.

I did some research on this subject and found out that there prob. are
several reasons for this misbehaviour.

A frech site is talking about some missing MOSFETS needed on the P4B266 or
the chipset in general.

Another site says itīs something missing in my windows installation.

It must have something to do with the Hyper-Threading (HT) Technology, no ?

Iīm just courious. Can somebody pls point me in a direction here ?

Have you tried doing a repair install to see if it will fix the problem?

No because this would prob. take me a year or two at this speed.

If it is running benchmarks correctly than the problem is not the speed
of the hardware. A repair install runs as a single task so should not
be affected by any other programs you might normally have running.
