Dual display on old TV and Nvidia 6600

When I set my desktop to use the dual display, my TV displays "un
useable display" (S video)

When I boot the computer in dual display mode, both the TV and the
computer display the Windoze XP logo, but after the boot the TV
reverts to "un useable display"

The lowest resolution the card will allow is 800x600. I am afraid the
TV might be 640x480
