Tom/John,
Sonic Solutions it looks like, was the OEM installed software for that model.
Based on additional downloads/drivers available from the Dell support page, for
Inspiron 1505's.
John,
As I previously suggested, first check through all the CD's that Dell sent you
with the notebook, and make sure that they include all the drivers &
applications that were factory installed on your notebook. If there is any
driver/program CD missing, contact Dell support and get them to send the
application/driver CD's that are missing.
I had to do that with my DiminsionE521. The reinstall software (CinePlayer) for
DVD function was on the hidden partition, but they did not include a separate CD
for that program. I would have had a similar problem as you are having right
now, if I did not have them ship a replacement CD. So in the future if your HDD
fails or you install a larger device, you will be able to restore the programs,
that you need. Dell usually just ships a blank HDD, when replacing faulty ones.
