EE versions of amd x2 work on A8n-premium?

I have a 388x2, wanted to bump up the CPU. I see these AM2 models out, and
wonder if they will fit on A8N-premium board?

The AM2 CPUs require a Socket AM2 motherboard, you only have a Socket 939
motherboard.

Sorry, I should have given some background on why.

The memory controller resides in the CPU itself. Socket 939 CPUs' memory
controller only supports DDR memory. AM2 CPUs' memory controller only
supports DDR2 memory. Your motherboard only supports DDR memory. DDR2
DIMMs use a different socket layout and different voltage level than your
current DDR DIMMs and sockets on your motherboard.
